Answers to audience questions Q01. There are hundreds of Chinese martial arts and dozens of martial arts from other countries. Why did you pick Chen Family style Tai Chi Chuan? A01. I was looking for art with enough width to fulfill a sixteen course curriculum. Much as I admire the great internal arts of Bagua Zhang and Xing Yi Chuan, I found it difficult to collect enough canonical forms done by multiple masters or grandmasters and with international judging standards. I felt that there had to be (1) a pool of accredited judges; (2) many masters and grandmasters who traveled or were willing to teach remotely; and (3) well-done videos. I was informed that for people with autism (A) flying leaps, tumbling and high speed movements were all bad ideas; (B) an emphasis on actual fighting would be inviting disaster; and (C) strenuous external training, often described as iron body, was out of the question. |
