WuJi style sitting meditation
as taught by Grandmaster Cai Songfang.
The feet need to point straight ahead (so in
parallel) with heels aligned and at about shoulder width. The
ankle and sole of foot should form a right angle. The lower
leg and knee should form a right angle. Thighs parallel to the ground
and to each other. IMPORTANT: make sure the
edge of the chair does not press against the backs of the
legs. Elbows are in against the ribs and bent so the
forearms rest on the thighs. Shoulders are level and
relaxed. The chin is tucked in slightly to give a tiny stretch
to the neck and make the top of the head (the Bai Hui point,
usually known as Du Mai 20) feel like it is lifted a small
amount. You need the spine to be straight and the hips
relaxed. The object is to take deep, slow breaths.
While
that is going on, the preferred position of the hand is palm
down and relaxed with the tip of the index finger (large
intestine 1) on spleen 10; the tip of the middle finger
(pericardium 9) on stomach 34 and the tips of the ring (small
intestine 1) and little finger (heart 9) on gall bladder 33. |
