Usually sabers come with the handles
wrapped and so do some swords.
Shields, spears, staffs and
some swords have bare wood. For those who prefer the feel of a
wrapped handle it is possible to use wraps originally designed
for tennis racquets and golf clubs. The objectives are a
secure grip, some protection from vibration and managing
pespiration so the wrap does not trap moisture and minerals
