| Teas | ||
| At school we serve various teas to students as an alternative to water. Which teas and when can be specified | ||
| in the Individual Education Plan or in the Individual Behavior Plan. Generally, in winter we serve warm tea | ||
| and in summer cool, but not iced, tea. Unless otherwise specified, no sugar, honey or sweeteners. We also | ||
| avoid caffeinated teas as caffeine typically does not interact well with medications. | ||
| The current menu | ||
| /1/ Rooibos - I am not sure if it is the red color, the taste or the texture, but very popular | ||
| /2/ Peppermint and spearmint - both have a few dedicated fans. No takers on apple mint ot lemon mint yet | ||
| /3/ Maghrebi (Moroccan) mint tea - usually this is a Nana spearmint with a decaffeinated green tea. Our preferred brand is | ||
| Numi. No requests for lemon verbena yet, and no one has complained about us skipping the classical sugar. | ||
| /4/ Chrysanthemum tea - I am not sure if the golden color is the selling point but no requests for the traditional rock | ||
| candy (crystallized brown sugar) yet | ||
| /5/ white peony tea - a lot like licorice. Not everyone likes licorice, but those who do really like licorice | ||
| Passionflower - preferred brand: Alvita | ||
| Chamomile - preferred brand for this and Lemon Balm: Traditional Medicinals | ||
| Bilberry - not sure what the application of this is; preferred brand: Alvita. | ||
| Lemon balm - these three are reported as used at home to help with getting to sleep and staying asleep | ||
| The most common brewing is one teabag of each in 12 cups of water, then drinking 3 cups per day. | ||
