iMotion
About a year ago we emailed iMotion to ask if they would be able to
process videos of autistic students and tell us (digitally) when their
software detected facial expressions that indicated an emotion. There
are plenty of challenges - someone with Angelman's must smile most of
the time - but not because they are necessarily happy. We were hoping
maybe SOME students would smile when they did a movement well (or
poorly) or perhaps frown if they did not do a movement well. Any
reasonably consistent show of emotion would be great.
But it turned out the company had moved on from its original goal and
was focused on helping advertisers understand how people reacted to
ads.
Then we heard that iMotion had been bought by Apple in January.
To our considerable confusion the following email showed up
Subject: Last chance to but Emotient Facial Expression software
Hello Peter,
You are receiving this email because you have expressed interest in the iMotions - Emotient FACET technology (Facial Expression Recognition) in the past.
As you might have heard, Emotient was sold to Apple Inc. at the beginning of the year. As of today iMotions is the sole vendor of the Emotient FACET technology in the World, but that will soon come to an end.
I am reaching out to know if you are interested in acquiring the technology before it disappears from the market on September 30th, 2016. After this date we are not able to sell the technology anymore, though all existing iMotions - Emotient FACET clients will be supported by iMotions for the years to come.
With iMotions - Emotient FACET you can analyze facial expressions (Emotions, Valence, Action Units, Facial Landmarks, etc...) in sync with any type of stimuli, post-process pre-recorded facial videos, slice and dice the data, create markers, etc... and combine many other biosensors to the mix. I am attaching a brochure that explains the main features and metrics you can get.
Please let me know if you are interested to have a short call to discuss the different options.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
