Sitting
meditation - WuJi style as taught by the esteemed Cai Songfang |
For most people
the most important thing needed for sitting is a chair. It is
best if the chair |
is stable, and
the seat does not press into the backs of your legs. In class we
are only sitting |
for a few
minutes, but if you are doing serious seated meditation we
suggest a thin cushion. |
In class we are
using sitting to briefly shut off the chatter of the outside
world and get ready |
to do work.
Sitting also serves as a prelude to the standing meditation that
follows it. A third |
use employed by
students who did NOT practice at home last night or earlier in
the day (ahem) |
is to review
yesterday's lessons. |
|
We will start
with the head - the t-square is just for purposes of
illustration. |
