Puerto Rico Earthquakes 2019 - 2020
In 2004 the late Milton Friedman (1912-07-31 to 2006-11-16) noted rather tersely that our attempts to construct some economic coalition to salvage Haiti were doomed to fail because Haiti had no economy. However, his wife Rose (1910? to 2009-08-18) encouraged us to keep working as the problem was serious and no one else seemed interested.

We did a presentation for Rene Garcia Preval (1943-01-17 to 2017-03-03), 38th and 40th President of Haiti, and his advisors. The President fell asleep and missed the comments by several of his colleagues that Haiti had not had a major earthquake in nearly two centuries. They probably meant the Cap Haitien event on 1842-05-07, thought to be a Richter 8.1. Unfortunately, our position that stress was building was vindicated less than a year later when the infamous Port-au-Prince earthquake, a Richter 7.0, struck on 2010-01-12.

Today it is not known to the nearest 100,000 people how many died, how many were injured, how many were injured and later died ... What is known is that Haiti has never recovered. Nor are there any indications that Haiti ever will recover.
