Kyoketsu Shogee - Roughly translated: to run about in the fields
and mountains. |
The chain is about 12 feet long – we find it has a tendency to
get tangled. You should definitely plan to |
practice outdoors or, if indoors, well away from anything
breakable. There is something to be said for |
using rope. The smaller ring (leftmost at the bottom) is about
1″ in diameter. As bought, the larger ring |
(middle) is 4″ in diameter. We prefer the much heavier ring (to
the right). The blades (top) are 14″ long |
overall. We experimented with three spins: |
/1/ forward to the side |
/2/ backward to the side - both either in a vertical plane or in
something of a x-shaped or butterfly shape |
3/ more or less overhead like a cowboy lasso. |
We found spinning or throwing the ring to be much easier to
manage than throwing or spinning the |
blades. If we included this in the wheelchair curriculum as a
substitute for a long weapon we would |
almost certainly shorten the chain (or rope) - probably by
as much as six feet. |
