I have seen both
single long mace and twin short maces sets performed by a
grandmistress of Chen Family style Tai Chi Chuan as part of what
she said was the Xiao Jia system. Never argue with a lady (or
anyone else) who has a mace in hand. Especially if you are not
heavily armed. The long mace is famous for its inclusion in The
Water Margin, one of the four great classical novels of
Chinese literature. There it is wielded by the mighty Qin Ming,
who was an imperial general and the commander of the armed
forces in Qingzhou. He earns his nickname "Fiery Thumder" for
having a loud voice and a violent temper. |
