It is not clear how long the complete artifact would be. Unlike
the German spears, which are made of spruce, |
the Clacton spearpoint (which is not acknowledged by everyone to
be a spearpoint) is made of yew. The |
artifact is about 16 inches long. How the spearpoint might have
been attached to a shaft originally is hard to |
say. There is also the issue of
whether the weapon was intended to be thrown or used to pierce. |
